All of our stair runners are available in any length and several widths.
To determine the length you need for your staircase, you should measure the riser and tread of your first step and then multiply this by the amount of steps you have. We recommend adding 10% on to this amount to give you your final figure. This ensures enough product when fitting as each step can very slightly and also, shaping the runner over each 'bull nose' may use slightly more product.
To determine the width, this mainly comes down to personal preference depending on how much of the staircase you would like to be visible either side of the runner. We recommend leaving 10cm (~4 inches) either side of your runner. For example, if your staircase is 80cm (~2ft 8in) wide, we would recommend a 60cm (~2ft) runner.

This stair carpet runner is made using a flatweave technique and is made for maximum durability. A flatweave is more commonly known as a basketweave. Traditionally, flatweave carpets are made using a natural fibre such as Sisal or Wool. However, this carpet is made using a man-made fibre (Polypropylene) that is a fraction of the price of a naturally made carpet, however just as durable as natural sisal.
The pile of this stair carpet runner is extremely durable and will not flatten down as there is no pile to do so. Due to the cleverly woven construction of the pile, this carpet runner is great for pets and is pretty much indestructible. It has been classified as a heavy domestic
This stair runner has a latex, gel backing. This means it is non-slip and will not move on hard floorings such as Wood, Vinyl or Ceramic Tiles. It is also anti-slip on carpet but the effectiveness depends on the thickness of the carpet it is sat on. The thicker the carpet, the less effective it will be. Whilst being non-slip, the backing is also 100% waterproof and rot proof. This ensures that the carpet will not shrink or wrinkle once it dries out from being wet. This carpet runner is ideal for a staircase.
The texture of this carpet is fairly coarse, it has a firm feel and offers little comfort. This product is not made to be luxurious, it is made to be very durable and practical. The carpet is made using a fibre called Polypropylene, Polypropylene is a man-made fibre that has fantastic properties and advantages. This carpet is 100% bleach proof and stain resistant. It is also resistant to fading from the UV sunlight. It is anti-static and moth proof. The product has a low radius of ignition and has been hot nut tested to comply with (BS 4790).
If you want a low maintenance product that will look great and will last for many years then this is the product for you.
How much carpet do i need? All you need to do is measure from the top of the stairs, along each tread and riser, right down to the bottom of the stairs. Then to make sure that you have enough, add 10%. On average, each step is about 1ft 6in (45cm), so if you had 13 steps, then it would be 13 x 1ft 6in (45cm) = 19ft 6in (585cm). So then add 10% to this and you would need to order 21ft (650cm). If you would like some help calculating what you need then please get in touch with us.
