Runner Rugs

Runner rugs are designed for long walkways, narrow hallways, and transitional spaces where flooring needs coverage and definition. Each rug is cut to your exact length, up to 100ft, and finished with pre-serged edges to prevent fraying or curling over time. You choose the width, with sizes from 2ft to 4ft, to suit anything from tight corridors to open-plan interiors.

Textures range from soft, cushioned finishes for relaxed homes to structured or non-slip runners that stay firmly in place in high-use areas. You can also select from a wide choice of modern, traditional, and patterned styles in colors ranging from muted neutrals to bold, high-contrast tones.

Every carpet runner is checked by our in-house team and dispatched the next working day.

Frequently Asked
Questions

Do I need to finish the edges or cut the rug when it arrives?

No. Each runner is cut to the length you order and serged on the edges before it ships. You unroll it. You do not trim it, bind it, or finish the ends yourself.

Are hallway runners suitable for homes with pets or kids?

Yes. Short-pile and tightly woven runners stand up to paws, shoes and daily traffic better than a deep pile. Anti-slip runner rugs are the ones to choose on wood, tile or vinyl, because the backing is there to grip a smooth floor.

Which runner rugs are best for offices or shared buildings?

Use the commercial runner rugs for an office, a corridor or a shared building with heavier traffic than a home. The durable runner rugs are the hard-wearing choice when the hall is busy but still a home.

Can runner rugs be used on stairs?

These runner rugs are for hallways and other flat walkways. Stairs need a stair runner, installed with an underlay and gripper pack. A hallway runner is not a substitute for that install.

How long is a runner rug?

You choose the length, up to 100 ft. That covers a long hall or a corridor in one piece. A narrow hall often uses a 1 ft 10 in runner rug. A wider walkway can take a 3 ft 3 in runner rug. The runner size guide covers the gap and where the runner should stop at a door.

What is a runner rug?

It is a long, narrow rug for a hallway or corridor, made to the length you order, with serged edges. It covers the walkway rather than the whole floor. You lay it flat. It is not a fixed ready-made rug size.

Every runner rug here is made to order and cut to the length you need, up to 100 ft in one piece on selected designs. The edges are serged before it ships, so it's ready to lay the moment it arrives, whether that's in a hallway, entryway, mudroom or any long walkway.

Runner rug sizes for narrow and wide halls

A 1 ft 10 in runner rug fits a tight entry or a narrow corridor, with room left for doors to open. A 3 ft 3 in runner rug gives more coverage in a wider hall or an open-plan space. There are plenty of widths in between, and not every design comes in every width, so check the options on the product page.

For a long hall, one continuous runner almost always looks better than two shorter ones pieced together, and it's easier to keep clean.

Runner rug colors and patterns

Gray runner rugs keep a light hall calm and work with almost any decor. Black runner rugs are the practical choice by the front door, hiding shoe marks and paw prints that would show on a paler rug.

If you want more color, blue runner rugs, brown runner rugs and green runner rugs all sit well with wood floors. Terracotta runner rugs bring warmth to a neutral space.

For pattern, animal print runner rugs really stand out in a long corridor where the print has room to show. If your hall already has a busy floor or wallpaper, pick one strong pattern or keep the runner plain. Not sure where to start? Pick a shade from your walls or flooring and the runner will tie the hall together.

Durable and non-slip runner rugs

The hall takes more foot traffic than any other part of the house. Our durable runner rugs are made for shoes, strollers, pets and the same path every day. Short-pile polypropylene is the hard-wearing choice, because it resists flattening where everyone walks the same line.

On wood, tile or vinyl, anti-slip runner rugs have a grippy backing that keeps them in place without a separate rug pad. For offices, lobbies and shared corridors, our commercial runner rugs are built for heavier traffic than a family home.

Made to order, ready to lay

Choose your width and design, enter the length you need, and your runner arrives cut to size with serged edges. There's nothing to trim or finish at home. Just roll it out. Many designs also come as matching stair runners and kitchen runners, so you can carry the same look from the front door right through the house.
